Medical Alert System FAQ

How much does the medical alert equipment cost?

The medical alert equipment is free for the Linear system. We ask that you return it when you are done, otherwise you will be charged for it. For SentryPal it is a one-time $49.95 and we do not need the equipment back.

Is there a contract?

We have a 6 month contract. After that, it is month to month.

What if I want to cancel service in less than 6 months?

Our minimum contract is for 6 months. You can still cancel but we do not give refunds unless you’ve had the system for over 6 months.

What happens after I sign up online?

After you sign up, we will program the system for you, and ship it to your address. It will arrive within 5 business days. You will have directions in the box for how to plug it in and test it. You can also call a technician at (763) 477-3664 anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CST, or email us at if you have any questions. We’re here to help.

Does someone install the system for me?

In the case of the Linear system, it is often installed by a technician. The SentryPal is installed on your own. We program the unit and test it in our office.

How does the medical alert work?

The Linear medical alert has two parts. First is the base, which is plugged into a telephone outlet. This always stays plugged in, and in one spot. Many people put this next to their bed on a nightstand. Then, there is the part that you wear. That is either a pendant or a necklace. This can be worn as you move around your home and yard. It does not plug in, so it allows you freedom to do everything you would normally do.

The SentryPal does not have a base, it is just the one unit.

In both cases, you press the emergency button and our dispatchers will immediately contact you to see if you need help and if you’re ok. If you tell them you need assistance, or if they do not receive any answer from you, emergency responders will be called to your residence.

Is there a charge if I press the button for help?

There is no charge from WH Security – you should push the button for help at any time you may need it. If you do require medical care there could be a charge from your doctor or nurse, but nothing extra from WH Security.

Will a medical alert call an ambulance or my family in an emergency?

You can decide when you want your family called, when you’d like paramedics called, or both. We will follow the instructions in your file which we will discuss with you while you are setting up the medical alert.

What if I want to move?

You are free to move and take the medical alert with you. The monthly cost does not change. However, it is very important that you call to tell us what day you are moving, and where. We need to be able to get ahold of you via phone and know your physical address in case we need to send emergency personnel to your location.

Do I need to have a phone line?

No, you do not need to have a phone line. The Linear medical alert works either with a phone line or a cellular signal. The SentryPal medical alert works with a cellular signal and does not have a landline option.
