Are you ever concerned about your home while you’re away? Wouldn’t it be nice to know that someone is watching over your home and property? Security monitoring from a professional monitoring center can provide this type of service and peace of mind for you.

This is how security monitoring works:

Step 1: A security system is installed in your home.

This system includes intrusion-sensing devices such as motion and door/window sensors. These devices will help you “watch” for activity that shouldn’t occur, such as someone opening a door when you are not home.

Step 2: Your security system will “sense” activity when it is activated.

You can activate your system by using a keypad. The system has two modes of activation: stay and away. In the stay mode, you are able to walk around in your home because none of the motion sensors are turned on. When you set it to the away mode, all sensors are on.

In this mode, if someone breaks into your home and triggers a door/window sensor when they are coming in…

Step 3: The alarm will sound within your home.

This alone is often enough to scare off a burglar, but as an additional safety measure, the system will also send an alert either over a phone line or via a cellular service (depending on how your system has been designed).

Step 4: This alarm reaches a professional monitoring center (in the case of WH Security, this alarm goes to the WH International Response Center, located in Rockford, MN).

Step 5: The dispatcher in the alarm center will see and respond to the alarm right away.

When a dispatcher receives an alarm, he or she will call the phone numbers you have already provided your call list. This often means calling the home first. If the dispatcher receives a response, the person who answers must know the password in order to cancel the alarm. If the dispatcher can’t reach anyone with a password, then they notify the authorities.

Please note that if you have set up text or email alerts, you will also receive notification of the alarm during this same timeframe.

Step 6: The police will arrive to make sure you and your property are safe.

If the individual who illegally tried to enter your home is still on the premises, he/she will be taken into custody for questioning.

Through this six-step process, WH Security takes every precaution to keep your home and property safe.
