It’s that time of the year again, fall will soon turn to winter and colder temperatures are right around the corner. This makes it the perfect time for homeowners to begin thinking about environmental damage that can occur during the colder months. To help prevent these damages, WH Security offers low temperature sensors, also called “freeze sensors.”
WH Security’s low temperature sensors are designed to notify the homeowner when a specific, pre-set temperature range is detected. The sensors are typically centrally mounted in the home, and detect if the in-home temperature drops to 42°. If this situation occurs, the sensor will alert our monitoring center. Dispatchers will then inform you of the situation right away, avoiding damage caused by frozen pipes.
Dangerously low temperatures can cause pipes to freeze or burst. Anyone who has experienced these events can attest to the damage, hassle and expensive repair bills that typically follow, such as:
- Severe flooding
- Damaged walls and floors
- Damage to furniture or other property
- Mold and mildew
- Loss of valuables and keepsakes due to flooding, mold and/or mildew
Low temperature sensors are great for every type of house or apartment, but we also highly recommended them for environmental monitoring at vacation properties and business spaces. Many individuals tend to forget about their properties that are visited less frequently during the winter months. When the weather becomes cold outside and things aren’t warming like they should inside, a low temperature sensor can provide the proper notification to prevent the damage caused by pipes that freeze or burst.
There are several types of devices that can monitor for low temperatures. Everything from a simple device with a specific configuration to more detailed digital devices that are adjustable by the end user. Either way you look at it, low temperature monitoring is always a good plan of prevention in colder states, such as Minnesota.
